Jarvis Cocker’s joy over pulped cinema

Jarvis Cocker was celebrating today after plans for a four-storey cinema and office complex next to his house were dropped.

The Pulp frontman, pictured, had backed a residents' campaign opposing the £6 million scheme in Hoxton — which he dubbed "the big, ugly lump".

The project has been abandoned by the Shoreditch Trust because of a lack of money.
