John Bryant named chairman of Evening Standard Editorial Committee

John Bryant has been appointed Chairman of the Editorial Committee of the Evening Standard.

Mr Bryant was formerly Executive Editor of the Daily Mail and is now chairman of the Press Association Trust.

The Editorial Committee will be responsible for safeguarding the editorial independence of the newspaper, following its acquisition by Alexander Lebedev in February.

The other members of the Committee are former New Statesman Editor and Observer Deputy Editor, Anthony Howard, and former Daily Mirror Deputy Editor, Bill Hagerty.
