Kate's the Dancing McQueen

Showgirl: Kate dances for the McQueen

Kate Moss, stepping out for the first time with the new man in her life, was the centre of attention at a fashion show and auction. Sitting in the front row with actor Daniel Craig, Moss, 30 - wearing a sheer skull-print dress - performed a bizarre dance, partnered by dancer Michael Clarke.

Craig, 35, star of Our Friends In The North, and Moss have been spotted together in New York and India in recent weeks after her separation from Jefferson Hack, father of her young daughter. But last night was the couple's first appearance at an event together as American Express celebrated five years of its Centurion credit card at Earls Court.

Alexander McQueen - a longtime collaborator with the credit card giant - co-hosted an evening that was never going to be about interest rates and loyalty schemes.

He pulled out all the stops and had run up a "greatest hits" catwalk collection in the credit card's signature colour - black - as well as roping in a galaxy of superstar friends to create one-off pieces of black-themed art. All proceeds went to HIV-Aids charity Lighthouse.

McQueen made a grand entrance in the black-swagged venue with Moss, Naomi Campbell and Annabelle Neilson on his arm. Other VIP guests, most black-clad, included Sadie Frost, Samantha Morton, Jake and Dinos Chapman,

Jasmine Guinness, Stella McCartney, Plum Sykes and Isabella Blow - all inspecting the celebrity art as waiters served Guinness and squid-ink sushi.

Madonna had donated a pair of black fishnet tights worn on the opening night of her latest tour, which raised £1,200 under the hammer of auctioneer Christie's.

Other star lots included a signed photograph of Moss by Sam Taylor Wood, which raised £8,500; photos from Stella McCartney and David Bailey; black leather trousers from Christina Aguilera; a vintage Versace dress from Sex And The City star Kristin Davis, black sunglasses from Elton John, a Garrard necklace designed by Jade Jagger, a black dress from John Galliano and a pair of black crystal-studded boots from McQueen that went for £4,800.

Another highlight of the retrospective show - staged in a black version of the mirrored padded cell McQueen has used previously - had Campbell strutting in a black pirate coat over snakeskin bra and knickers.
