Kerry falls for TV prank

Kerry fell for Ant and Dec's trick
13 April 2012

TV pranksters Ant and Dec dressed up as a nurse and patient to dupe I'm A Celebrity winner Kerry McFadden.

Kerry believed she was at the hospital to present a cheque to the winner of This Morning's Nurse of the Year award in a special live report for the daytime show.

But the award did not exist and "nurse Cheryl" was really Ant in disguise.

Dec was covered from head to toe in plaster to play the bedbound patient.

Kerry failed to recognise the duo whom she last saw when she was crowned Queen of the Jungle on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The prank will be shown tomorrow night in the new series of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway on ITV.

When Kerry turned up at the hospital, she was told the patient had been in a coma since New Year and was left to hold on to his drip bag.

Twenty minutes later the patient suddenly came round.

He asked why Kerry was there and when she explained she was presenting the award to nurse Cheryl, he told her: "Don't give it to her - she's rubbish."

As the This Morning crew arrived on the ward, the former Atomic Kitten then faced a dilemma over whether or not she should hand over the cheque.

Ant joked that he got "a lot of unwanted attention" from the male crew members when he donned the nurse's uniform.

"I did have nice sensible nurse's shoes so I didn't need to struggle with high heels," he said.

"It's me that seems to be dressing up as a lady in this series. It was Dec's turn last series so I guess it's only fair!"

He added: "The weirdest bit about the whole thing was having to shave my hands. I'm a hairy person and that wouldn't do for nurse Cheryl.

"It's one of those things you think you'll never have to do. It was a bit embarrassing when I went to the gym the next day, I looked like I was wearing a hairy jumper."

Dec said of his disguise: "I'm lying there in plaster, which you'd think was an easy job, but you can't do anything and you can't go anywhere. I was lying there for a couple of hours."

Other victims of Ant and Dec Undercover who will be seen later in the series include former footballer John Fashanu.
