Lidos and fountains

Tooting Bec Lido (020 8871 7198) is so vast it never really warms up: one 92 metre length (it's the biggest pool in Europe) will cool down even the most overheated.

Also try similarly chilly Brockwell Lido (020 7274 3088) or Gospel Oak Lido (020 7485 5757). If you prefer natural surroundings, splash around in the ponds (men's, women's and mixed, 7am-8.30pm) on Hampstead Heath.
