Londoner's Diary: Courtney Love likes Country Life

A surprising subscription from Courtney Love, the undisputed queen of grunge. Speaking to Dazed magazine, in an interview with singer Lana Del Rey, Love, pictured, explains why London is now her spiritual home. “I know I’m going to end up there,” she says. “I know what neighbourhood I’m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames. I subscribe to this magazine called Country Life, which is just real-estate porn and fox hunting. It’s amazing.”

Could Love follow Prince Charles by becoming guest editor of the long-running publication? Its editor, Mark Hedges, is thrilled at the unexpected endorsement. “How absolutely delightful!” he tells us. “We have always had a great following from rock stars — Bryan Ferry named one of Roxy Music’s albums after Country Life, Eric Clapton bought a house through its pages and it is also Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys’ favourite magazine.” Perhaps Love could be an honorary Girl in Pearls.
