M&S drops £10m Beckham range

MARKS & Spencer has ditched David Beckham as part of chief executive Stuart Rose's overhaul of the High Street retailer.

The £10 million contract for Beckham's DB07 boys' wear range, above, will not be extended when it comes up for renewal next month.

The England captain's brand value was damaged by poor performances in the Euro 2004 championship and allegations of an affair.

Beckham's M&S contract was undermined when he moved from Manchester United to Spain last summer and swapped his number seven shirt for Real Madrid's squad number 23.
