M6 tops list of Britain's most haunted roads

The M6: Britain's most haunted road
13 April 2012

The M6 where Roman soldiers and a phantom lorry driving the wrong way are among the strange sights witnessed, has been named as Britain's most haunted highway.

Second most-haunted road is the A9 in Scotland, where a family reported seeing an ornate coach with bewigged footmen.

Gloucester Drive in Finsbury Park is London's most spookiest. It's said to be haunted by ghostly children playing in the street, making it the fifth most haunted overall.

Tony Simmons, of Tarmac, which compiled the list, said: "We originally assumed Britain's spookiest road would be a dark lane near an ancient battlefield.

"But the M6 travels through many counties and therefore an immense amount of history."

Other haunted places include the B4293 at Devauden, Wales, the B3314 near Tintagel, Cornwall and Loch Dornoch in the Highlands.
