Man critically ill after brutal race attack

A man in his 40s is critically ill after a race attack in east London.

The victim, who is black, was slashed around the face and neck with a bottle and a knife in the assault in Romford.

Police are hunting four people, two men and two women, all of them white.

The man was attacked as he walked along Coltsfoot Path at around 10.30pm last night.

Scotland Yard said racist insults were used during the attack.

The victim is described as critical but stable today.

Police appealed for anyone with information to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
