Man in court over stabbing

Flowers mark the place where 23-year-old Adnan Patel bled to death after being stabbed following a fight with a gang of men.

Mr Patel died on Thursday from a knife wound to the chest after crashing his Ford Focus into another car in Downsell Road, Leyton. He collapsed on the pavement where passers-by tried to stem the bleeding while paramedics were called.

Police believe he had been stabbed in a nearby street and had tried to flee in his car.

Akeel Shah, 23, of Leytonstone, will appear at Waltham Forest magistrates' court today charged with his murder.

He was one of four men arrested in the area shortly after the incident in connection with Mr Patel's death. Two 22-year-olds and a 37-year-old have been bailed until next month.
