Man stabbed to death on night out in west London

A murder inquiry was under way today after a 33-year-old man was stabbed to death following a night out.

A 31-year-old man also received stab wounds to his back in the incident, believed to have taken place after the pair had been drinking together in a pub in Brentford, west London, on Saturday night.

Two men, aged 27 and 32, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder when they attended separate police stations nearby. They remain in custody.

Police were called at 12.53am yesterday to reports of the double stabbing at the junction of New Road and Hamilton Road in Brentford.

The fatally wounded man had suffered multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

Next of kin have been informed but the man has not yet been formally identified.

A post-mortem examination was being held at Fulham mortuary.

It is believed the two friends, thought to live locally, were involved in a street altercation with two other men, who made off after the incident.

The 31-year-old stabbing victim was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, where he was treated and discharged.
