12 April 2012

A man has been accused of claiming thousands of pounds in benefits by stealing a dead baby's identity.

Simon Williams, 30, is said to have used the details to get jobseeker's allowance, incapacity benefit, income support and a social fund loan.

Williams, of Maidstone, is charged under the identity he is alleged to have stolen as his real name has not yet been discovered, Southwark crown court heard.

He denies fraud and was remanded on bail until next year when he will stand trial.
