Match of Today - David Cameron v Ed Miliband

Match of Today: David Cameron and Ed Miliband
12 April 2012
David Cameron v Ed Miliband
Ground:
Kick-off:

Miliband provoked a handbrake turn on the forests by asking, drooling sarcasm: "Are you happy with your flagship policy on forestry?" But Cameron answered with such chutzpah that he stole the ball and scored: "The short answer to that is... no," said the PM, stunning everybody and ruining Red Ed's follow-up.

Labour's leader scored on youth unemployment and jibed at Tories auctioning internships to raise party funds. Cameron mocked that young Ed was an intern for Tony Benn and Harriet Harman. "No wonder he's so Left-wing, politically correct and ineffective."

Score: Cameron 3, Miliband 2

Commons Whispers

* Baroness Warsi has a secret ambition - to guest on Top Gear's "star in a reasonably-priced car". The Cabinet minister once discussed doing a lap of the famous track with the show's host Jeremy Clarkson but it went no further. Over to you, BBC

* Full marks again to Oliver Letwin for honesty. He believes the Government's flagship "nudge" strategy to change people's behaviour will work but openly admits it may turn out not to.
