McAlpine lands Railtrack contract

ALFRED McAlpine has won a 10-year contract with Railtrack Great Western which the infrastructure services group said could be worth up to £300m. The deal is to design and build embankments, starting this April.

McAlpine's Capital Projects division has much running on the sort-out of the railways, having worked on more than 100 Railtrack sites in the past four years. McAlpine shares rose 21 1/2p to 486p.
