Met swoop on suspected paedophiles

12 April 2012

Dozens of suspected Internet paedophiles were arrested across the UK today - including two in London - in a huge police crackdown on cyber porn.

More than 30 people were arrested in the operation - code-named Ore - which targeted computer users accessing pay-per-view websites based in the United States.

The Metropolitan police swooped on two addresses in London - one in Camden and one in Battersea - and seized computer equipment. No arrests were made.

The US sites were selling horrific images of sexual abuse of children as young as five.

US authorities tipped off the National Criminal Intelligence Service and today's operation was co-ordinated by the National Crime Squad, Britain's answer to the FBI.
