Minister sorry for sexist ‘joke’

A senior Indian politician has apologised for saying that wives lose their appeal with age.

Coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal, right, said he had been quoted out of context and that he was joking when he made the remarks at a poetry meeting.

The chairman of the National Commission for Women, Mamta Sharma, said the comments were “very unfortunate”.
