Moped gang target House of Fraser in jewellery grab

Rashid Razaq13 April 2012

HOUSE of Fraser's flagship Oxford Street store has become the latest target of smash-and-grab raiders on mopeds who have stolen goods worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Four robbers on two mopeds smashed through the department store's side door and made off with Tag Heuer and Guess Collection watches with a total value of about £16,500.

Scores of London's boutiques and jewellers have been raided in similar ways, including Tiffany's in Sloane Street, Jimmy Choo in Bond Street, Marc Jacobs in Mayfair, and Sadie Frost's boutique FrostFrench in Camden in the last three years.

Police said today two mopeds were seen outside House of Fraser, in Old Cavendish Street, just after midnight on Thursday and later rode off up Henrietta Place. One bike was red while the other had an L plate. Both had tape over their registration numbers. Contact police on 020 7321 9888 or 020 7321 5868 with information.
