A mother who killed her autistic son with bleach was sent to a mental hospital today for assessment before she is sentenced.
Satpal Kaur Singh, 44, killed Ajit, 12, at home in Barking in February then drank bleach but recovered in hospital. She pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The court heard psychiatrists believe she is suffering from either a paranoid personality disorder or chronic post traumatic stress disorder.
Today the Recorder of London Peter Beaumont QC placed her under an interim hospital order at the John Howard Centre, Homerton. She will be assessed by doctors for three months before being sentenced.
