My face was left frozen, says Lynne Franks

12 April 2012

PR guru Lynne Franks is among those to suffer serious side-effects after botox treatments.

The 54-year-old had injections in her forehead. But a week after her third treatment, her right eyelid began drooping.

'The fact that half my face had frozen was unbeknown to me until a shocked friend who'd come to meet my London flight from Los Angeles looked aghast and said, "What on earth's happened to you?",' she said.'When I checked my reflection, I was horrified to find my right eye was drooping.

'The doctor admitted she had forgotten to warn me not to fly soon after a procedure.

'I was raging at the doctor for not warning me, but almost equally angry with myself for submitting my body to unnecessary harm.

'While I was terrified about long-term damage, I was more embarrassed by my stupidity.

My drooping features remained with me for several horrible weeks, but the memory has never faded.

'Since then, I've found out that in very rare cases a drop in pressure during a flight can cause the Botox to move, but this usually happens only if you fly within 24 hours of having it done.

'I've researched the subject and discovered that next to nothing is known about the long-term effects of injecting toxins such as Botox into our bodies.'
