Mystery over how Fayed daughter got Diana dress

A dress worn by Diana was mysteriously presented to Dodi's sister Jasmine a few days after the Paris car crash, it was claimed.

Sara Blackiston, Dodi's personal assistant and Jasmine's best friend at the time, said the electric-blue dress and matching shoes arrived at the Fayeds' mansion in Oxted, Surrey, in a large box.

Sara said: "I recognised the dress immediately as one I had seen Princess Diana wear and I was told that she had given it to Jasmine.

"It was a few days after the crash and I remember thinking it was a little strange, certainly in terms of timing."

Diana, pictured here in the dress, had got to know Jasmine well while on holiday with the Fayed family in their yacht, Jonikal, off St Tropez the month before.

Sources close to the Harrods boss told The Mail on Sunday that it had not been unusual for Diana to give Jasmine and her sister Camilla presents, although no one could recall her giving either of them a dress.

Rosa Monckton, Diana's close friend, also recalled speaking to the Princess of Wales about Jasmine.

However, she too could not recall any mention of a dress being handed over.

She said: "Diana spoke to me for a while about Jasmine and she did not mention giving her this dress. But then I suppose anything is possible."

Diana had also brought a substantial wardrobe with her to Paris.

The Fayeds are understood to have initially attempted to return her effects to the Royal Family only to be rebuffed.
