New Mini drives BMW sales

12 April 2012

THE reborn British Mini has helped German carmaker BMW to a sales record. Last month, the company sold 108,292 vehicles, a 17% rise on the same month last year.

Sales in the first three months of the year rose 17.4% to 260,462 compared to the previous year.

The company said strong sales of its new 7-series limousine and its X5 sports utility vehicle had also driven the sales, but it was the Mini that had accounted for much of the sales increase in the company's home market where it has long been considered a cult classic.
