Olympics boss: Ken running loony campaign against me

The London Olympic boss who savaged the capital's chances of completing the venues for the 2012 Games on time has accused Ken Livingstone of running a "loony" campaign to discredit him.

Jack Lemley, 71, caused huge embarrassment to the Mayor and Olympics Minister when he quit as chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority last month claiming costs would rise "exponentially".

Mr Lemley has since faced accusations from Mr Livingstone that he was "not the man he had been" following surgery in July.

The engineer, in fact, only had routine electric shock therapy to correct an irregular heartbeat, the same treatment as Tony Blair had in 2004 which Downing Street described as "minor surgery".

Today Mr Lemley's spokesman Perri Capell said: "It is all ridiculous. He is a loony, I swear.
