Online readers go Potty for new Harry Potter

Impatient Harry Potter fans have started an online frenzy with thousands of copies of the seventh book pre-ordered in the first two days - six months before it goes on sale.

Amazon revealed customers were going mad for the final instalment of JK Rowlings creation, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with more than 100,000 copies pre-ordered on its website in the first two days. Read more here...

The website confirmed no other book had sold so quickly before its launch.

The book is due in shops July 21 and is already No 1 on Amazon's Hot 100 books list. It is expected to sell more than 400,000 before it ever hits the shops.

According to a report in The Sun, Amazon's head of books Christopher North said: "It's set to be our biggest selling book ever."

A new film, Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix, starring Daniel Radcliffe, is released in July.
