Pc in court over crash that killed mother-of-three

Victim: Felicity Austin died from her injuries
12 April 2012

A Met constable appeared in court today accused of causing the death of a mother-of-three by dangerous driving.

Nigel Brown, 46, was driving an unmarked Skoda police car when it was involved in a head-on crash on the A21 near Tunbridge Wells last May.

The driver of the other car, Felicity Austin, 29, of Hadlow, died. Brown and a female passenger had to be cut free from the Skoda.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission managed an inquiry by Kent police into the crash. Brown, an officer from the specialist crime wing, was released on bail after appearing before Sevenoaks magistrates. He will appear at crown court on 29 March.

Nursery worker Miss Austin was engaged to Simon Huggins, 35, and was described as a "loving and beloved mother" to their three sons.
