Pedestrians 'in 250,000 accidents'

Nearly 250,000 traffic accidents in London are caused by pedestrians, new statistics reveal.

And a third say they cross roads without looking after drinking alcohol.

The cost of pedestrians' antics - as measured by damage to vehicles - is £37.5 million a year. The Direct Line poll says 85 per cent of drivers have had to swerve to avoid pedestrians, who in 2003 caused 223,013 accidents.
