Plinther ready for world stage

A Londoner who gave up a top job to be a women's rights activist has been shortlisted to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Julia Lalla-Maharajh's speech campaigning against female genital mutilation is one of five selected by judges. The public can vote for their choice on YouTube until tomorrow at the following address: www.youtube.com/davos

Ms Lalla-Maharajh, 39, former head of communication at business group London First, highlighted her cause on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square for Antony Gormley's "living artwork" in July.
