Pogues singer in pub attack

Former Pogues singer Shane MacGowan has been beaten up by two men in a London pub.

He suffered serious face injuries in the attack, in a lavatory at The Joiners Arms, Soho, on Monday.

MacGowan, 46, who was hit with a metal bar, kicked and punched, was treated at St Thomas' Hospital for cuts and a fractured cheekbone.

A police spokesman said: "The motive remains unknown. Two men, aged 20 and 21, have been bailed."
