Police arrest Hurley fan

Elizabeth Hurley is at the centre of a stalker investigation after receiving hate mail.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man outside her London home yesterday on suspicion of harassment.

Hugh Grant, Miss Hurley's former boyfriend, had alerted them after reading a letter which was left at her home in South Kensington last Tuesday.

Police sources said the letter, accompanied by a flower, was initially thought to be a gift for Miss Hurley, who is expecting a baby in May.

She is embroiled in a public battle with American millionaire Steve Bing, who she claims is the father.

The letter is understood to have said: 'Don't have the baby, get rid of it. If you've got to keep it, say it's mine.'

It included derogatory comments about Grant, who has been comforting Miss Hurley, 36 , since she announced her pregnancy last month.

The man was arrested after being spotted outside her home yesterday afternoon.

Last night he was being questioned at Kensington police station in West London.

A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed he was being held in relation to a complaint made on December 4.

Yesterday's arrest happened after the man, clutching a toy dog, rang Miss Hurley's doorbell.

When told via an intercom that she wasn't in, he started to wander off.

Shortly after, a police car pulled up. Officers stopped the man, spoke with him and then drove him away.

Miss Hurley appears to be feeling vulnerable. She recently left her home in the company of a bodyguard.
