Police seize £2m cocaine haul

Police have seized cocaine worth £2 million in a major drug swoop, it emerged today.

Officers from the National Crime Squad recovered nearly 42lb of the drug from a van and a car in a hotel car park in Bexleyheath, Kent, yesterday evening.

Two men were arrested at the scene and were today being questioned by police.

The first man is in his 50s and is from Kent. The other is in his 40s and from north London.

A further 40lb of cocaine were later discovered at a house in Catford, south east London.

A National Crime Squad spokesman said: "This is an operation we have been working on for some time and it represents a major seizure of a Class A drug.

"We are pleased to have taken it out of circulation and prevented it reaching
the streets."
