Prince Harry to be best man, so William’s stag night should go with a swing

12 April 2012

Prince Harry was today said to have been given the job of best man at his brother's wedding.

Harry, 26, who is a lieutenant in the Household Cavalry and is training to fly Apache attack helicopters, will take on the duty of being William's main "supporter" at the ceremony on April 29.

One royal source told The Sun: "It will be an incredibly emotional day for Harry as well as William.

"They will both be thinking about how proud Princess Diana would be if she had lived to see this wedding.

"People sometimes forget what those boys have been through. William couldn't have chosen anyone else."

The brothers are only two years apart in age and have been close since their mother died in 1997.

Both also were commissioned into the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry.

William may also choose his oldest friend, Thomas van Straubenzee, as a supporter.

Harry's duties as best man could mean that William may struggle to survive his stag night — Harry is renowned for his love of parties.
