Profits soar after Go flies solo

NO-FRILLS airline Go has reported a 51% profit jump in the first set of earnings figures since completing its management buyout.

The group, bought from British Airways by 3i in June, said pre-tax profits were £16.9m in the six months to 30 September compared with £11.2m for the same period a year earlier. Turnover was £128.2m against £89.3m last time.

Chief executive Barbara Cassani said three-quarters of the group's sales came through the internet. More than two million passengers used the airline in the six months, a 41% increase.
