£22bn benefit if we all have the internet, says Martha Lane Fox

12 April 2012

Dotcom pioneer Martha Lane Fox has announced plans to get everybody of working age in Britain online by the end of the current Parliament.

The UK's "digital champion" said 10 million Britons are not on the net and getting them online would deliver £22 billion in benefits.

"By getting more people online, everybody wins," she said.

Her website, Race Online 2012, is asking for people already online to volunteer or donate money or equipment to get others connected.
