£650-a-head menu to beat the credit lunch

One of London's top restaurants has joined forces with an international lifestyle company to launch a "once-in-a-lifetime" £650 set menu.

Hakkasan, the first Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant in London, and "luxury experience" company Quintessentially Escape, have devised the menu using some of the world's finest ingredients.

It comes after leading restaurateurs said Londoners were shrugging off fears over the credit crunch and still spending thousands of pounds on eating out.

On the "exclusive" menu is beluga caviar, shark fin soup, silver cod cooked in champagne, lobster, Wagyu beef, pink champagne sorbet with rose caviar accompanied by Krug, Bollinger RD and the most sought after burgundies and clarets.

Also included is chauffeur-driven transport to and from the Soho restaurant and a year's membership to Quintessentially's sister division, Quintessentially Wine.

This includes access to wines selected by expert Matthew Jukes and a calendar of bespoke events. Jenna Bromage, director of Quintessentially Escape, said: "We have used absolutely the best of the best ingredients and wines from all over the world.

"We created a menu with them and they were happy to work with us as we could offer the right clientele - everyone from A-list celebrities like Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, to corporate clients." Head chef Tong Chee Hwee will cook every one of the £650 menus ordered.

"Even if it's his day off he will come in," said Ms Bromage.

The offer follows Vivat Bacchus's six-course, £1,000 tasting menu for bankers celebrating their bonuses, launched in January.
