Queen Kerry 'dead proud' of win

13 April 2012

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner Kerry McFadden today described how being crowned Queen of the Jungle had yet to sink in.

The 23-year-old former Atomic Kitten star said she was "dead proud" of herself for appearing in the show that had millions of viewers gripped.

There has been speculation that some of the contestants could be in line for lucrative television and advertising deals but Kerry said she "no idea" what she was going to do next.

Interviewed on GMTV wearing a crown and smiling throughout, she said: "I'm dead proud of myself, that's the one thing I wanted to do, 'just do this on your own'... and I did."

Speaking about the first few days of the show set in Australia, she said: "There were so many times I thought 'I can't do this'."

She explained that, because she missed the opportunity to say goodbye properly to husband Bryan, 23, of the boy band Westlife, and daughter Molly, she was left "heartbroken" before the programme had even started.

Kerry said she thought: "No-one's going to be watching, I'm going to get no support, and I got so upset and so angry with myself because I felt such a failure."

But she said to herself: "Kerry, grow up, no-one else is whingeing."

Speaking about being crowned Queen of the Jungle, she added: "It's still not hit me, I've not been out in society yet."

Asked what she was going to do next, she replied "I've no idea," and said she just wanted to get home.

Kerry and her husband were expected to be reunited with their two daughters, aged two and one, in Dublin at the weekend.
