Queen set to launch her revamped website
The Queen will be joined by World Wide Web inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee as she launches the revamped Monarchy website today.
The internet site which provides detailed information about all aspects of the royal family has been overhauled to make it easier to use.
It also features new technology, audio and video footage and extra information about members of the Monarch's family.
The improvements will allow visitors viewing details about the Queen's coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953 to watch a movie clip of the historic event.
Google maps have been integrated into the royal diary of engagements so web users can see the places the royal family will visit.
A page on royal animals has been added telling visitors about the Monarch's corgis and other pets and working animals used by the royals.
Historic documents from the Royal Archives have also been scanned and made available on the site, including a letter written by George VI, four days before the D-Day landings of June 6 1944, to Winston Churchill.
In it the King appeals to the Prime Minister not to take part in the operation in person but to stay at home for the good of his country.
During the launch at Buckingham Palace, Sir Tim will give a short speech about the history of the World Wide Web.
He will then introduce a short film featuring students at Kingsbury High School in north-west London where the Queen launched the first version of website.
