Rolls-Royce reaps rewards from Trent

13 April 2012

AERO ENGINES maker Rolls-Royce is finally receiving a payback for its faith in the Trent series of engines, in which it has invested billions of pounds over the past decade.

Servicing engines and selling spares for jets helped lift pre-tax profits 11% to £115m in the six months to June and the interim dividend is held at 3.18p.

Servicing and spares revenues from its previously-sold military and civil jet engines rose 9% to £1.3bn, accounting for 50% of group sales. Rolls also has a record order book of £19bn.

Chief executive Sir John Rose forecasts further growth for the group as the 54,000 engines it has flying on the world's jets continue to 'expand and mature'.
