Sacked killer postman sues Royal Mail

12 April 2012

A postman who murdered his married mistress is suing Royal Mail for sacking him.

Roger Kearney, 57, stabbed Paula Poolton, 40, seven times in the 2008 attack. He is to seek damages after being fired from his £400-a-week post round.

The case is due to be heard at an employment tribunal in Southampton and is expected to go ahead despite Kearney being unable to attend because he is serving a 15-year jail term.

Royal Mail said: "We do not feel that it is right for a criminal convicted of such a serious crime to bring an action of this kind."
