London's most celebrated street for tailoring has been turfed over so a flock of sheep can roam.

Selfridges sent two flocks of yellow sheep down Oxford Street yesterday as part of the initiative, founded by Prince Charles.

More than 80 retailers including Jigsaw, which will hold in-store knitting classes, are backing the event to promote wool.

John Thorley, of the Campaign For Wool, said: "This is a special product. I'd like it re-established as a fibre of consequence where workers get paid properly."
