SCi plays where Eagles Dare

THE Guns of Navarone, that old Bank Holiday movie, is to become a computer game. SCi Entertainment has bought the rights to the thrillers, written by the late Alistair McLean, for an undisclosed sum.

The aeroplane novels of their time, their film versions kept Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas and bad script writers busy 30 years ago.

'We're targeting 20-35-year-olds who've watched Where Eagles Dare every Easter Sunday for the last 20 years,' said the company. The first games will be released in 2004.

SCi has already found success turning The Italian Job into a game. It has sold an estimated 400,000 copies since the launch last autumn. But that quirky Michael Caine caper, with its Union Jack minis and famous finale, has an enduring appeal. Clint and Richard Burton running around with fake machine guns?
