Serial molester on Tube is spared jail

12 April 2012

A man who molested a woman on the Tube has been spared prison despite admitting he was a serial offender.

Emad Mauthoor, 48, a married father of three, rubbed his groin against the victim on the Central line.

Three undercover police officers at Liverpool Street station saw him but he initially denied the offence, claiming he had dozed off while standing up on the train and must have accidentally leaned on the victim.

Jurors rejected his explanation and found him guilty of sexual assault.

Since his conviction, Mauthoor has admitted responsibility and confessed to other incidents to his probation officer, Southwark crown court heard.

He was given a three-year treatment and supervision order and told to pay the victim £250 compensation and £500 towards prosecution costs.
