Seventh life sentence for murder spree man

12 April 2012

One of Britain's most dangerous criminals was given his seventh life sentence at the Old Bailey today for a spree of murder and robbery begun four months after he was released from jail.

Duane Daniels, 27, knifed a bouncer to death and headed a gang who used violence in three raids days after the killing. Daniels admitted taking part in the raids.

The court heard that in 1993 he viciously beat a woman and her neighbour. Jailed for 10 years, he had asked for 950 similar offences to be taken into consideration. Daniels was released from the sentence four months before he murdered bouncer George Napier. He was jailed for life last December for the killing.

Today at the Old Bailey he was given six more life sentences and a further eight years consecutively for the latest robbery.

Daniels, Richard Caines, 26, and Victor Iniodu, 27, were armed with knives, sometimes handguns. Caines and Iniodu were each jailed for five years.

The trio were finally caught when they tried to break into a branch of the Halifax in Whitton, Twickenham on 7 February last year. During the raid Daniels stabbed a man in the shoulder, while two other people were assaulted.

Daniels, no fixed address, admitted three counts of conspiracy to rob and three of aggravated burglary. He was jailed for life on each charge. He also admitted two counts of wounding and one of damaging property.
