Shelf-stacker jailed for blackmailing Playboy

A supermarket shelfstacker who posed as a master computer hacker to blackmail the Playboy company was today jailed for two years.

Simon Jones told the US firm he had accessed accounts belonging to its internet customers. Sending emails from his bedroom in Southampton, Jones, 25, then demanded money to ensure security. Playboy paid him ?60 to "protect" two accounts and the money was traced to his bank account. Six months later, police and US secret service agents turned up on his doorstep.

Jones pleaded guilty to blackmail at Southampton Crown Court.
