Silvio Berlusconi's sex trial adjourned

The trial of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi on charges he paid for sex with an underage prostitute was adjourned shortly after it opened in Milan today.

Mr Berlusconi, 74, did not attend the hearing, which lasted seven minutes, as he was holding a ministerial meeting to discuss Libya in Rome.

The trial was adjourned until May 31.
