'Spiritual' offer for Trinity

THE BID battle for nursing home operator Trinity Care has taken an unexpected turn on to a spiritual plane. A Christian-inspired rebel hopes to upset the agreed £12.8m offer for Alternative Investment Market-listed Trinity from Southern Cross Healthcare.

Concern that Southern will jeopardise Trinity's 'whole person Christian' philosophy has spurred care home owner Ernie Graham and his wife into action. They will put up £625,000 to kick-start a bid to keep Trinity independent.

Trinity is not impressed. Chief executive David Henderson said it is impossible for shareholders to evaluate Graham's plan as there is no structure and no proposal.
