Strike threat to New Year's Eve Tube

Tube commuters today face yet another threat of strike action across the network. And services on New Year's Eve could also be affected by the latest row.

Over the years line controllers' pay and conditions have become hugely varied. London Underground wants to standardise their pay, but this could mean some controllers taking a cut.

Rick Justham, of the Transport and Salaried Staffs Association, said: "We have not as yet made an agreement with LU about New Year's Eve. We are hoping now to have urgent talks so that we can avoid industrial action."
