12 April 2012

EACH week, This Is Money brings you a round-up of who is being tipped in this weekend's City pages. Click here for the Financial Mail on Sunday's Midas column.

SUNDAY TELEGRAPH
Tour operator First Choice has rejected fears of a collapse in family holiday bookings and is looking for a surge in post-World Cup demand. At 108p, the shares look good value given the quality of management. GW Pharmaceuticals, the drugs company developing a painkiller derived from cannabis, is unlikely to be profitable before 2005 but a new broader focus means shares look undervalued at 107p.

Scottish pubs and brewing group Belhaven has just posted its sixth straight year of record growth as profits rose 23%. The shares have risen sharply in the last two years and still appear good value at 348p. The share price of Densitron Technologies, the distributor of high-tech components, has suffered along with others in the sector. But the company has been consistently profitable and always had a solid business. Buy at 25p.

SUNDAY TIMES
Surface Transforms, a developer of braking discs for Formula One teams, has made a promising start on the Ofex market. Its fortunes should be further lifted by a deal with BAE Systems for aero-engine components.

INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY
Long-term prospects for Ultimate Leisure, a north of England-based pubs and nightclubs group, appear sound. It has several sites in development and has just issued a positive trading statement. The shares should go further from 256 1/2p.

SUNDAY EXPRESS
Belgravium Technologies, which focuses on the data-capture market, has withstood the downturn so far. The UK market is mature but the company also has partnership agreements in Europe and is looking for acquisitions. Buy at 16 1/2p.

Shares in bathroom accessories company Longmead have doubled this year as the firm reaps the benefits of the consumer spending boom. Further trading progress is expected and shares are worth a look at 29p.

Despite the risks associated with the tech sector, software outfit SurfControl could be one of the more interesting growth stories at 410p. Operating costs have been cut and its email product has made steady progress.
