'Superwoman's' gun terror

Nicola Horlick

City 'superwoman' Nicola Horlick has been attacked at gunpoint by two muggers outside her home.

Ms Horlick, a 43-year-old mother of five who runs her own high-flying asset management company, was approached by two men on a scooter in south Kensington, west London.

As she was getting out of her car, one of the muggers threatened her with a handgun and demanded valuables.

When she refused, he hit her across the head with the pistol, knocking her to the ground.

The mugger then jumped back on the scooter and the two men fled empty-handed.
During the attack Ms Horlick managed to throw her diamond ring into nearby bushes, from where it was later retrieved.

An ambulance was called, but Ms Horlick refused to go to hospital, insisting that she just wanted to get home.

The force of the blow left her with a large bump behind her ear. Despite being shaken by the attack, Ms Horlick was back at work the next day.

Ms Horlick, a former investment fund manager at SG Asset Management, was nicknamed Superwoman in the 1990s because of the way she juggled a high-flying career with looking after her children.

She shot to fame when she fought a high profile campaign to win her job back at fund manager Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. And her superwoman reputation was enhanced by her book Can You Have It All?, based on her experiences in the City.
