Tesco launches broadband service

13 April 2012

SUPERMARKETS giant Tesco has launched a new broadband service in 700 stores and online. It has been tested by a panel of parents and children from Ripple Infant and Junior School in Barking, east London.

The company is hoping to lure consumers away from rivals such as Wannadoo and British Telecom, with the service priced at £19.97 a month.

Tesco's service does not have a downloading limit, unlike BT's slightly more expensive basic broadband package, which is capped at one gigabyte of data a month.

The launch of the broadband service is the final leg of Tesco's telecoms offering strategy to make it the first High Street name to have internet, home telephony and mobile packages.
