The President's private army

The security operation for George Bush's visit will be the biggest ever mounted in Britain.

But even so the President will be bringing with him an enormous entourage some 700 strong.

It includes 250 Secret Service agents, many of them carrying weapons, and 150 National Security advisers.

Officials describe the numbers as ' perfectly normal' for a major overseas trip. Below is a breakdown of the equipment and personnel the President will the bringing with him.

AIRCRAFT
The President and his entourage will be using two identical Boeing 747-200s and a third chartered jumbo jet

HELICOPTERS

A U.S. Marine Corps Sikorsky Sea King helicopter and a Black Hawk helicopter on permanent stand-by

VEHICLES
Two identical motorcades, each made up of 20 mostly armoured vehicles, including President's Cadillac De Ville being airlifted to Britain

ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN

250 Secret Service agents, many of them heavily armed
200 Representatives from other U.S. departments
150 National Security advisers
50 White House political aides
15 Sniffer dogs and their handlers
5 Cooks including a personal chef on permanent call
