Three arrests in 'Millionaire' probe

Three people were being questioned by police today following an investigation into ITV1's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? quiz show.

Major Charles Ingram and his wife Diane were arrested at their Wiltshire home following allegations about the Major's £1 million jackpot win.

A 51-year-old man from Cardiff was also arrested and all three were currently being questioned over allegations of deception, Scotland Yard said.

Police said in a statement: "At approximately 7am a 51-year-old man was arrested at a residential address in Cardiff by officers of the Metropolitan Police Special Inquiry Team in connection with an allegation of conspiracy to defraud.

"He was taken to a local police station where he is currently being interviewed.

"At approximately 7am today a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested at a residential address in Wiltshire in connection with an allegation of conspiracy to defraud by officers from the Metropolitan Police Special Inquiry Team. They were also taken to a local police station where they are being interviewed.

"All three have been arrested in connection with an ongoing inquiry by the Metropolitan Police Special Inquiry Team into an allegation of deception in connection with a television programme."
